How to fix, adjust and centre a loose skeg on a Boreal Design Baffin kayak.

In this short video we show you the steps to adjust and better centre a loose skeg on a Boreal Design Baffin sea kayak.

1) The two plastic plates on either side of the skeg have bolts that can be adjusted to better hold the skeg in position better.
2) Start by loosening off all four bolts.
2) Give each side of the plastic plates a tap inwards while holding and squeezing the two plates together.
3)  Continue to squeeze and hold the two plastic plates together, while tightening the back two bolts.
4) Check the skeg for side to side and up and down motion.  If it is too stiff, then you can now loosen the bolts a bit until you find the perfect adjustment.
5) Final step is to tighten the front two bolts, testing the stiffness of the skeg up and down and side to side as you go.

Two much tension on the bolts will cause the skeg too be too stiff and will cause trouble lowering and raising it when seated in the kayak on the water.
